Naruto Shippuden is a petite different from the early Naruto years. But it is high octane adrenaline! Gaara totally steals the note. The action and anecdote line arc takes up to 30 episodes before Sai comes into the narrate. The only dissappointment I feel is in Viz Media, why are they bothering to release Shippuden 1 disc (4 episodes) at a time? They should go directly to box sets! And by box sets I mean, they should carry at least 20 episodes or more per plot. Shipuden season 1 is like 50 or more episodes, each season is vast! Viz Media, why must you milk us of our hard earned money and give us so minute in return?! I assume one of the most annoying things about movie critics is that they’re supposed to know their stuff, but in the waste they reach across as honest being college guys looking for something dirty to witness! Isn’t it comical how they can’t encourage but accumulate down on a hilarious, broken-down fashioned comedy like this and yet display them something like American Pie and it’s tremendous colorful humor! A unique classic! Sickening! This movie was totally hilarious with hardly any sexual humor at all! Allright, objective a hint here and there that wasn’t notable. Beyond that this movie was such a perfect comedy for everyone! I absolutely loved this movie! They obsolete every cartoon trick in the book to try and finish that mouse! And wasn’t Christopher Walken unbiased wonderful?!!! The casting in this was soooo vast! It makes me so dusky when movies like this arrive out and hardly net noticed by the public for whatever reason! Probably the lack of sex humor is evident and the previews and it keeps the movie goers away. Anyway I loved it! Do yourself a favor and hold it up! I’ve got it on VHS but hope to salvage the DVD eventually!

Comic actors Nathan Lane and Lee Evans star as the Smuntz brothers, a pair of schlemiels that inherit a rickety factory and even more rickety house. The waft in the ointment is a mouse that lives in the house and won’t be discarded. This small critter is surely the star of this display and the one you root for over and over again during this jubilant time DVD. Kids will devour this with you although they won’t devour the echt-Coen brothers production values. The factory scenes seem stolen from “Hudsucker Proxy” and many of the characterizations are cacricatures you may have seen in “Miller’s Crossing”. A lot of people will simply call this “Home Alone” with the rodent substituted for the kid and the dopey brothers for the crooks.

Still this is an scrumptious and amiable two hour venture into laughs and wonder that you won’t often peer on DVD. The script is clever and the action plenty in this itsy-bitsy flick. Grasp it home tonight and sight forward to an evening of fun for the whole family.

‘The Virgin Suicides’ is a radiant, understated, and tragic drama, punctuated by gargantuan rock music of the behind ’70s, and featuring terrific performances, particularly by Kirsten Dunst, Josh Hartlett, and a nearly unrecognizable Kathleen Turner. What makes the film even more much is that it is the directorial debut by Francis Ford Coppola’s daughter, Sofia, best known prior to this by her less-than-stellar performance in ‘Godfather 3′! Her sensitivity with this material establishes her as a director to be reckoned with, and a factual talent!

The film focuses on the five Lisbon sisters, glowing, yet repressed by a religious and overly protective mother (Turner), who encourages their quick-witted growth, but tries to block any sexual or emotional stirrings. The girls turn their passions into other channels, bonding tightly with one another, and viewing the world as outsiders. When the youngest attempts, then succeeds at killing herself, the family gains an unwanted notoriety, and a group of local boys open to appreciate the remaining sisters from afar, gathering materials, and creating a fantasy world about them.

Lux, the most blooming and free-spirited of the sisters (Dunst), attracts the attentions of the most approved boy in school, Tripp (Hartnett), who confuses raging hormones with like, and begins a campaign to ‘have’ her. Winning the respect of their father (James Woods, in another wonderful ‘against-type’ portrayal), he succeeds in wearing the mother down, and arranges ‘dates’ for the sisters, so he can assume Lux to the Homecoming Dance. The party provides the springboard for the tragedy that gives the film its name, and catapults the girls into icons that the boys who care for them can never forget.

There are many reasons to rob this film; Coppola’s conception of how boys and girls interact, and her determined touch with their issues about sexuality; Kirsten Dunst’s best performance to date, conveying both sweetness, and barely suppressed erotic desire; Kathleen Turner’s breakthrough as a character actress, sacrificing her glamorous persona for a stocky and frumpy matron. There are some sterling cameos, as well, particularly Danny DeVito as a clueless psychiatrist, Scott Glenn as a family priest who offers platitudes instead of comfort, and Michael Paré as an older Tripp, reminiscing about Lux, and their ‘love’.

This is a very special film, one that you will not soon forget! I highly recommend it!

The Virgin Suicides is Sofia Coppola’s directorial debut, and its effectiveness illustrates that she’s better late the camera than she is in front of it. (Most movie-goers will remember her ill-fated attempt to record Michael Corleone’s daughter in The Godfather III.) Tragic, haunting, and sometimes darkly comedic, this movie leaves a strong impression in its telling of a narrative about the destruction of innocence. The film is based on the book by Jeffrey Eugenides, which happens to be Coppola’s celebrated original. As a result, she felt that, in bringing the adaptation to the hide, she had a strong responsibility to be faithful to the source material.

The time frame is the mid-’70s and the setting is an upper class suburban community in Michigan. The film tells the dusky sage of the five Lisbon sisters - Cecilia (age 13, played by Hanna Hall), Lux (age 14, played by Kirsten Dunst), Bonnie (age 15, played by Chelsea Swain), Mary (age 16, played by A.J. Cook), and Therese (age 17, played by Leslie Hayman) - all of whom advance to a terrible demolish before finishing high school (this great is revealed during the introductory voiceover, which is provided by Giovanni Ribisi) . Downhearted, neglected Cecilia is the first to give up on life - after surviving one suicide attempt, she is successful on the second try. In the wake of that event, the atmosphere surrounding the surviving sisters becomes grim, and their parents’ overprotectiveness threatens to suffocate them. For most children, mothers and fathers location boundaries; for the Lisbons, it’s iron bars.

The Virgin Suicides is filmed as a memory looking support through 25 years, and the point-of-view is that of a boy who was in appreciate with one (or perhaps all) of the girls. As a result, the events recounted here offer a filtered perspective of the sisters and the complexities of their lives. Presenting things in this manner, The Virgin Suicides manages to be both poignant and touchingly nostalgic. Also, Coppola’s style is such that she avoids turning the film into a sudsy melodrama that glamorizes self-destruction.

One of The Virgin Suicides’ strengths is its ability to effectively hold the nuances of teenage life during the ’70s. Coppola gets all of the miniature things right: the awkwardness of a chaperoned boy/girl party, the thrill of first adore, and the nervousness of the pre-dance ritual (in this case, the homecoming dance, not the prom) . The film also boasts a solid soundtrack featuring a few songs that haven’t been endlessly recycled in other, unique, set-in-the-’70s features. In one key scene, music provides a link between the Lisbon girls and the outside world - it becomes their only viable means of communication and free expression.

Most of the cast is comprised of novel faces, all of whom do solid jobs. The more recognizable names include Kirsten Dunst as Lux (the girl with the most visible role), James Woods (as the girls’ father), and Kathleen Turner (as their mother) . Josh Hartnett (last seen as the guy who loses the girl in Here On Earth), who is slowly building a reputation in Hollywood, plays heartthrob Straggle Fontaine, whose terrible treatment of Lux sets off a chain of events that leads to one of the movie’s tragedies. The Virgin Suicides also includes excerpts from a modern-day interview with a forty-something Poke (played by Michael Pare), who clearly has regrets about his treatment of Lux.

By using occasional bursts of humor and setting up the film as a collage of reminiscences, Coppola establishes a mood that is wistful and sunless, but not funereal. There are a few instances when the film gets a dinky heavy handed, but, for the most fraction, the tone is well modulated. Although Coppola almost certainly gained more than a petite wait on from her renowned father in getting the production off the ground, the talent evident in her debut argues that this is not a case of unwarranted nepotism. The apple has not fallen far from the tree.

I’ve waited over 20 years to finally ogle a grand copy of this film. Very crisp realease. Strangely touching. Marvelous performance by Bette. She had to play a considerable younger woman so it was fun to search for how well they photographed her to effect this. For the most piece she really did eye younger but other places you could view that she really did explore all of 42. Touching movie. Lots of tremendous hats by the ladies throughout and Edith Head really gives Bette some mountainous gowns to wear. (Though, NOT the party scene gown!) And that hairdo! She looked 60!

In regards to the changed ending of the film….well, it worked for me.

I have waited 35 years for this film to reach out on Vcr or otherwise. There is talk of TV eposodes being ‘a lost eposode. Well I mediate that this is a tremendous ‘lost Bette Davis movie’. I seen it in the expose when I was very young and many years later on national television. But that was in the 50’s or 60’s. But I always remembered this film and belief it was impartial as goog (if not bettet) than her most populer films. Barry Sullivan who played her husband in the film was also sizable as was the two young ladies who played her daughters. Especially Betty Lynn. I beget Betty Lynn and Bette remained lifelong friends after they did this movie togrther. I go on and out in saying ‘movie’ and ‘film’, because when I was a kid they were all ‘movies’. Especially for movie fans.

This movie “Payment On Question” about a very controlling woman said so remarkable. That everybody eventually will coast away. If it be in the homeor on the job or in friendships or relationships. A controlling bitch is intolerable. Sooner or later they all lose what means most to them in the raze. In many of Bette Davis’s films she portrayed

women of very abominable character defects and there was a lesson to be learned in watching her films. If you could ‘get it!’. Yes the ending of the film was sort of leaving you hanging, but it was okay. You can’t question a husband to recall their wife benefit after she nearling ruined his life in so many ways. At least not lawful away. Yeah, “Payment On Request” is one of my all time celebrated Bette Davis movies. Thank you.

This stylish, hip thriller of the early 80’s is a cult classic. Featuring Wilhelmenia Wiggins-Fernandez, a real-life Diva. In the film she plays Cynthia Hawkins, an opera singer who refuses to picture her music.

Frédéric Andréi (Jules) is a loner messenger boy, who makes a glorious bootleg recording of one of her recitals. He also becomes the unknowing recipient of a tape containing evidence about the Paris underworld, setting off a chain of events where everyone’s motives are misunderstood.

Sad to say, this capable film is seriously marred by the worst sound transfer I have ever heard on a DVD. It is muddy and indistinct, great worse than most VHS tapes. Because the yelp of Wilhelmenia Wiggins-Fernandez is central to the region, the bad audio quality makes it hard to understand why anyone would build such a fuss about recording her.

The video transfer is not gigantic, but passable, however the audio quality seriously dimishes the impact of a wonderful film. If you listen to the compact disk soundtrack, you’ll know what you’re missing. This DVD looks like it was rushed to market with very diminutive notion or care. The film deserves a better fate.

Bravo. Anchor Bay understands why many of us are buying DVDs of films we never would have considered purchasing on video: not merely because they are available, but because of the QUALITY. Their “Diva” release is a prime example of this, and I won’t bother extolling the virtues of the movie *as* a movie since the Amazon.com review and the other reviewers have done that so well.

I haven’t seen the earlier Fox Lorber impart of “Diva”, but from the reviews I read here, and from the Fox Lorber titles I unfortunately contain, I can only imagine that they (Fox Lorber) did their usual criminally indifferent - or is it agressively incompetent? - job, making no attempt to shapely up the image and sound on a poor-quality master, but rather doing a quick-and-dirty transfer in order to be first to market, before the public wises up.

With that as the background, then, the unique Anchor Bay release of “Diva” was well worth waiting for. The image quality is simply heavenly - natty, definite and crisp, with no discernable noise, dirt, or other undesireable visual artifacts. It’s comparable in quality to Paramount’s estimable work on the “Chinatown” DVD, or most anything in The Criterion Collection’s satisfactory series. Another very superior surprise is the restored and updated sound which, on the Fox Lorber release, was rated even below the terrible quality of the image. Fans of “Diva” know that it has one of the most unusual and memorable soundtracks of the many memorable 1980s movie soundtracks, and I cannot remember it ever sounding better than it does on the recent Anchor Bay release.

So again, thank you, Anchor Bay, for doing justice to one of my common films on DVD. And as for you, Fox Lorber, isn’t there a better business model out there than doing violence to art for money?

I picked this up at my local Best Buy’s for $40, considering that this box region contains both stout seasons of Magic Knight Rayearth. In total, there are 13 discs with this position, Season 1 has 6 Discs (1 disc is tubby of Special Features) . Season 2 has 7 discs in it, all seven discs are of the expose (No Special Features disc) . Ok, onto the synopsis of the reveal itself.

The country of Cephiro is in grave pain and according to an used narrative, in times of crisis such as these three girls from another world arrive to Cephiro and become the Legendary Magic Knights and put the world from destruction.

Season 1 is the origin of the Magic Knights. Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuzaki, Fuu Hououji are visiting Tokyo Tower when suddenly, the three of them hear a queer squawk and seek a weird intellectual light in the sky. The three are instantly transported to the world of Cephiro where they rapid meet Master Mage Clef who informs them of their reason for being in Cephiro. It seems that High Priest Segato has kidnapped and imprisoned the Pillar of Cephiro, Princess Emeraude, whose sole duty is to pray for the world of Cephiro in order to support it splendid. However, the meeting is sever short when the group is attacked by Alcione (am unsure of the moral spelling) and High Priest Zagato manage to transform Master Mage Clef into stone. Now, the three girls must fulfill their destiny by becoming the Legendary Magic Knights and saving the world of Cephiro from being destroyed.

Season 2 picks up just after the events of Season 1. The girls return are pulled serve to the world of Cephiro, charged with saving it once again from an even stronger and worthy foes than in the first season. The girls must once again, don the armor, the swords, and the magic that so served them in their battles in the first season.

This point to has it all, magic, swords, monsters, and even Mecha machines. The battles are intense, there’s even comedy, some romance, and enormous graphics. The whole series is awesome, especially since you score almost 19 worth of televison for $40. I’ve seen 12 and 13 episode animes that cost more.

A couple of notes that I want to produce. First, I would’ve done this review a lot sooner, however, I had to return my first copy as I received a duplicate copy of the “Learn” disc in Season 2, when I returned it, all was well. Second, I don’t know if it’s my DVD player, some interference or what, but sometimes while watching Season 2, it seemed like there was in fact interference on my DVD player, when I rewound my DVD to before the “pickle” they weren’t there after it played relieve through. And Third, it seems that there’s a irregular echo in Season 2, Disc 6, Episode 3, not positive if it’s unbiased my copy or not.

With that all out of the arrangement, I must recommend this note, the characters are loveable, the battles are awesome, and you accept a lot of episodes for a mere $40 (at least if you score it from Best Rob) . I’d definetly recommend this to all of my anime friends.

***Edit. There is one negative to the expose. Every episode starts off with a brief recap of what the prove is graceful great about which tends to collect rather annoying.

This box constains the paunchy seasons 1 and 2. This series is unbelievable. The soundtrack is astounding. Made me sob at some parts, laugh at others. Actually, fair listening to the music is enough to give you a pang (you either feel like crying, or smiling) . I’ve seen this anime when I was a teenager and now I decided to engage it and add it to my collection.

This second season advances several themes over the course of the year. The impromptu team of Walker, Casey, and Bartkowski accumulate increasingly difficult assignments to halt various villains and foil their irascible plots, in which the untrained Chuck begins to display, often hilariously, the potential to muddle through as an agent.

A second theme is the approaching wedding of Chuck’s sister Ellie and her fiance “Captain Awesome.” Chuck has rashly promised Ellie to track down their missing father for the wedding, a promise that will have a dramatic impact on the last episodes of the season.

A third theme is the rogue organization FULCRUM’s pursuit of the Intersect. Chuck is in weekly inconvenience of having his camouflage blown and either being kidnapped by FULCRUM or being sequestered for his occupy safety by the government in an underground bunker away from family and friends.

The fourth and perhaps most primary theme is the slowly blossoming romance between Chuck and Sarah, as their affection for each other begins to strain Sarah’s professionalism and Chuck’s willingness to live under a shroud narrative.

Chuck’s best buddy Morgan and the slacker crew at the BuyMore continue to offer silly relief, whether avoiding work, staging insane stockroom competitions, or trying to hijack “Awesome’s” bachelor party. Special guests during the season include Sarah’s professional con-man father, the suitably awesome parents of Ellie’s fiance, and Chuck’s ex-college roommate and girlfriend, neither of whom are what they seem.

“Chuck: The Complete Second Season” on DVD is very highly recommended to fans of the series. This reviewer hopes “Chuck” gets renewed for a third season.

Chuck is easily my accepted prove on the air accurate now (and I adore my television) . Every episode leaves me desperate for more, and the second season has been especially honorable. They haven’t been terrified of breaking the formula and actually letting things invent and change. That’s one of the things that annoys me most about other shows — writers point to you what they want you to want and then scheme that out for seasons and seasons on extinguish. Bleh. But the writers of Chuck haven’t and as such it is beneficial.

So, check it out. If you like comedy, romance, action, spies, sizable writing, and colossal acting, then you’ll cherish Chuck.
